In an era of high stakes public exams, exam marking has become a mainstream, potentially headline-grabbing, topic of debate.
Assessment of different subjects, the merits of multiple choice, subjectivity, ensuring standards across time and place, the role of new technology… all are hotly debated. Only the jargon – grade boundaries, norm-referencing, standardisation – tends to cool everyone down.

Poland uses international learnings to inform e-assessment deployment 6th March 2013
In a recent TED talk, the OECD’s Andreas Schleicher singled out Poland as being one of the countries which has successfully used PISA results to improve their national educational standards. This drive to assimilate and act on learnings from around the world comes as no surprise to us here at RM: it’s a characteristic we’ve noted throughout our association with CKE, Poland’s national exam board.

Cambridge Assessment extends e-testing agreement 31st October 2012
Cambridge Assessment has awarded RM Education a one-year extension to the existing e-testing, hosting and support service agreement.

RM signs contract with DfE for PISA 2015 programme 8th October 2012
RM Education has been appointed by the Department for Education to run its PISA programme from 2015, following a competitive tender. The contract, which is worth £1.67m, will run for at least 5 years and will help to inform national education policy in the UK. RM Education’s Assessment & Data division will partner with the Institute of Education, University of London (IOE) and World Class Arena (WCAL) to deliver the programme.

RM welcomes CKE for study visit 5th October 2012
Representatives from Poland’s Central Examining Board (CKE) jetted in to the UK last week for a packed study visit at RM Assessment. Our 18 Polish visitors had a varied and intensive itinerary, receiving training and updates on our online assessment products, visits to our scanning partner’s premises and fact-finding sessions with several of our clients.
