A successful start to e-marking in Slovenia
Having won the tender to pilot on-screen marking services to the Slovenian National Examinations Centre (RIC) in June 2009, RM Assessment successfully carried out the initial e-marking trial in the autumn of 2009.
RIC’s main requirements for the pilot project was to understand how best to implement e-marking technology in Slovenia, and to establish how examiners marked on screen as compared to on paper. Before marking could commence, RM delivered extensive training to RIC staff and examiners in Slovenia.
RM's e-marking application, scoris assessor was used to mark the exams (Matura) in English, Maths and Slovene. For each subject, scripts were scanned locally and uploaded to scoris. There were a total of 60 markers using scoris, 20 marking one subject each. Every script was marked more than once, and both the 'mark by annotation' functionality as well as the manual entry of marks was used.
Following the successful completion of the pilot, RM received very high levels of customer satisfaction feedback from both RIC staff and markers. RM and RIC are now working together to develop a long term partnership model which will help to deliver quality and logistical improvements to the Matura Examinations.
